First Annual MATHEMATICS COMPETITION


The Prizes

The following cash awards will be given in each of the following student groups:

Senior, Junior & Sophomore, and Freshman

  • First Prize: $250
  • Second Prize: $100
  • Third Prize: $50

Decisions on the Prizes depend on student solutions of problems
given below and will be decided by the departments Contest Committee


The Rules
  1. All undergraduate students enrolled at UMaine are eligible.
  2. Freshman, Sophomores & Juniors, and Seniors solve their own sets of problems and the winners among each of these groups will be awarded separately.
  3. It is not necessary to solve all the problems. Students should solve as many problems in their category as they can.
  4. We expect student integrity; work on the problems individually.
  5. On the cover page of your solutions, include your first and last name, your academic class standing, your major (if known).
  6. Solutions should be submitted or mailed before the deadline to:

  7. Deadline for submission of Problem Solutions: March 24, 2008.
